Hello Elspeth – sorry to hear about the grotty old flu! Boo Hiss! But lovely to see and hear about Amsterdam – I long to go there and now I am doubly determined to get there in the Spring!

Your pumpkins look great. Mine didn’t show. I had two plants which stretched out across the lawn. The flowers were there (August) but nothing. I didn’t feed them, but did water although not every single day. Any ideas anyone why I had nothing for Halloween?

Glad to hear you’re doing better. Your moonlight trip sounds as if it were worth having it, even if you then had to put up with the flu.
I was interested to read about the Dutch putting pots and plants whereever possible. That is one thing that has always struck me in China. If people have just the smallest place for a pot there’ll be one. Always makes any place look much more pleasant.

Ooooh i have just stumbled upon your blog and it is wonderful. So sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather though.
You are doing an amazing job on your house and you are so lucky to live in such a gorgeous place in the country. I sometimes camp down near Dungeoness in Hythe but Dungeoness’s bleak scenery and amazing beaches really inspire me, you are very lucky to have it on your doorstep. The Pilot does the most amazing fish and Chips and sometimes me and my family drive the 40minutes down there just for the fish n chips a stroll on the beach and then we head home again!
(crazy but definately worth it!)
Kepp up the great work on the house i am very envious and i dont blame you one bit for sitting on the beach and catching the cold i would have done exactly the same, given the chance xx

I’m sorry you were feeling under the weather, hope you are doing much better now. What gorgeous scenery, I love the flowers in the bike basket. I just today ordered Homemade, and can’t wait to receive it, I just loved the Weekend Book, I’m sure I’m going to love this just as much. Have a great week!

Elspeth, was it by any chance you that bought six amonites from Hampton Court Flower show in the summer? I had the same idea and when I enquired I was told a lady had just beaten me to it! so I bought the last two!
Surely it wasn’t you!
